Art Attack!

The K-2's had a great time today mixing colors and painting "like real artists". The unit we are doing in art is all about colors, and we will be doing lots of painting and mixing colors on Mondays.

Reminders:
*Drama try-outs Wednesday at 3pm - bring your sheet with you that you have practiced. You don't need to memorize it, but please practice it so that you can perform with a partner on the stage.

Homework:

Kindergarten: Read a book each night and practice sounds and tricky words. Finish homework and game by Friday.
Gradne One: Read a book each night (or a chapter) and study spelling for test on Friday. Finish homework and game by Friday.

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas break! It is great to have everyone back and raring to go! We will be learning all about dinosaurs this month, so be ready for a "roaring" good time!

Please remember to dress warmly or wear layers - it is often hot in the class, but cold and windy on the playground. Pack extra mitts and a pair of ski pants in your bookbag, even if there is no snow on the ground - you never know when you will need them!

Bring something interesting for Show and Tell on Friday of this week.

Elementary Drama will begin again this week on Wednesday from 3-4pm. We will have one more afternoon of drama games and activities, and then next week we will have try-outs for a longer play.

Homework for this week:
Kindergarten:
*Read a book every night. We are finished our sounds, but please keep practicing them. Students will start to bring home "word bags" to sound out and read to you each night. Return the bag the next day so that the next student can take it home (there will be 18 word bags all together).
*Finish homework duotang and game by Friday.

Grade one:
*Read a book every night. If you are reading a chapter book, it is okay to just read one or two chapters a night, but please bring your reading bag back each day anyway, in case there is something else that needs to be sent home (for instance, we will be finishing up "Busy Days" this month, so the students may have a story to read it in as well).
*Finish homework and game by Friday.
*Practice for spelling test which will be on Friday.
