The Busy Month of June!

The final countdown is on - 20 days left of school! But what a busy 20 days they will be with testing sounds, words, letters, numbers, reading levels, math skills, writing skills, and so on, as well as many special events, both in our class and in the school.

We have finished the last letters, sounds and tricky words, and so will continue to review this month (the duotangs and crafts that came home today we are finished with in school). Please keep reviewing the tricky words and reading every night!

Upcoming Events:
May 30: PJ Day and book order due


May 31: Twin Day and K-2 Assembly at 1:20pm

June 1: Blue & Gold Day and Golden Breaker Awards at 6:30pm (cost $2)



June 2: Neon Day and Rave from 6-6:45pm (cost $5)
 





 

June 3: Hat Day and Fun Day (permission slips, money and order forms are already in)













 


 

June 6: First Nations Cultural Day for K-2 (we are planning a "powwow" around 12:30 for anyone who would like to join us - in the gym due to pending rain)

June 7: Spa Night for girls in K-5 from 6-7:30 pm (cost $10)

June 8: Kindergarten Orientation Day (so preK's come to school, and current K's stay home)

June 11: GMCS Colour Run 10:30am
June 14: Middle School Prom
June 15: Show and Tell at 10:50am
June 17: Field Day (wear sneakers and sunscreen)
June 19: Father's Day and Brodiee's Birthday and Baccalaureate Service
June 20: Grand March
June 21: Visit Whale Research Centre and Pettes Cove Beach from 9-10:30am and K-8 End of Year Bash from 11am-1pm (please have permission slips in by June 16th)
June 22: Graduation at 12 noon (students will be dismissing at 11am)
June 23: K-2 field trip to Saint John to see the movie "Finding Dory" (please have permission slips and money in by June 16th)
June 24: Last Day for Students and Report Cards
June 28: Last Day for Teachers

Learning about Whales

 
Thanks Beth for coming today and teaching us more about whales. We loved getting to touch the bones and teeth, and play with the whale toys!

May has arrived!

Kindergarten Homework:
*Read a book EVERY night and practice your tricky words.
*Complete homework writing list (dictation) - some students will finish this week.
*Bring back Library book for Monday

*May 6: Subject Council for teachers so no school for students (I will be attending PD sessions in Moncton)
*May 9: Annual general meeting of the GMTA (teacher's association) and PD (so no school for students)

*May 12: Special Guest Laurie Murison to talk to us about whales
