This week we have started many new routines in our classroom as we get down to the real work of kindergarten and grade one.
Kindergarten students have started learning the Jolly Phonics sounds and will bring home their yellow sounds books every night. Please just take 2-5 minutes to go over these sounds every night - just flip through the books and have them tell you the sound and show you the action (it doesn't need to take very long at all).
Grade one students have started spelling this week, as well as reading logs and bringing a book home every night to read. We will have a spelling test on Friday. Please practice the five words with your child until they know them well.
Homework duotangs are due back on Friday - you can send it in early whenever it is done.
We have also started Daily Five in our classroom this week to help make us better readers and writers, and we are working with patterns and numbers in math class.
