Fall Colors!

Welcome to a wet and rainy week. Please make sure your child is dressed warmly enough each day, as we will go out whenever we can when the rain lets up.

Thanks to all who sponsered someone or made a donation for the Terry Fox Run. Our K-2 class raised $130! Great job everyone! The student council made a banner to send to Dalton, which we all signed, as well as a video recording from each class. Keep fighting Dalton, we can't wait for you to come back to Grand Manan!

Our unit on colors is almost finished. Here are our white sheep and green frogs.

Welcome to School!

Mrs. Jones' Kindergarten Kids

Matching shirts for Best Friends

What an awesome first day of school! It was great to see everyone today in their new clothes and with new bookbags and lunch kits, and excited and happy to be at school! However, please remember that it is still quite warm out on the playground (and in the classroom), so it might be better to go back to summer attire for the next few days at least, and save the new long sleeve clothes for later in the fall. The children now have phys. ed. 4 days a week, so it is important that they have t-shirts and good sneakers at least. Feel free to pack a pair of shorts in their bookbags for them to change into at noon if they wish, and it is also a good idea to send a water bottle.

Please remember to check the agendas every night, and to send back any forms, orders, etc. Even if you are not ordering the magazines (chickadee, highlights, etc.) please sign and return the slip as we get free stuff for the class, depending on how many slips we get back. Also, please send in $7 for the agenda.

On Tuesday, homework duotangs will go home in Kindergarten, and should be returned by Friday. This week, they just have to print their name and draw a picture, so it should be pretty painless. As you are working with them at home, please encourage your children to print their names using lower case letters (excepr for the first letter of course!)

Reminders:
*Send back forms signed ASAP.
*Sent in $7 for agenda.
*K-2 "Sock Hop" Thursday night from 6-7pm.
*School Pictures are are next week, September 14-17. I'll let you know exactly what day as soon as I know.
*Book orders are due Sept. 17th.

School is Just Around the Corner!

I can't believe how quickly the summer is flying by. It's been great to see so many children this summer at the pool, T-ball, soccer, tennis, the library program, and at the Rotary Festival. Everyone is looking very healthy and full of energy - I hope this continues in September!

Many people seem to be "school shopping" and several have lost the school supply lists, so here is a reminder of what is on each list for K-2. Please remember to buy "good" brands (crayola, canadian made, etc.) as these prodults work better and last longer, and do not put your name on anything as they will be communal supplies.

See you in September!
